Fourteen boxes of tea
How did I get here and what happens next? I’ll try my best to explain how it came to this. Why I’m standing in front of my door, staring down at this brown cardboard box that was placed on the floor.
I know where it came from. I know what’s inside. It’s just the fact that it’s here at all still kind of blows my mind. Not one or two, but fourteen boxes of tea. It was so late when I ordered, I thought it might’ve been a dream.
More than I needed? Sure, absolutely. But the promise of new flavors was too exciting to resist, and at fifty-five dollars, I couldn’t not persist.
Trying new things. That’s what it’s really about. To try a new flavor is to try the unknown. To invite it to sit with you, to shake hands, to maybe make a new friend or have a talk with someone you may never see again.
There’s a thrill in that risk, isn’t there? To jump into something that might disappoint or delight. That’s why I did it, not just because I like tea. That’s why this brown cardboard box is staring back up at me. Fourteen little leaps, pressed into paper and leaves, that I can’t wait to meet.
